Welcome to my photography blog! I have to confess that this is my first blog….ever. I’m usually one to snap up new technology and begin using it right away, but all the new social-networking stuff (blogs, Facebook, MySpace, etc) have never really appealed to me at all. I think I’m uncomfortable drawing attention to myself, which is really what most blogs, Facebook, and MySpace pages do. So, up until now, I haven’t done any of that stuff: no blogs, no Facebook, no MySpace, no Twitter, you get the idea. So if you’re reading this blog and something seems off, it could be because I’m a rookie at all this. Or because I’m a big dork. With that said, I did feel like it was time to get a blog going to showcase my photography. 

Photography has been a huge hobby of mine for 10 years now. It really started on a trip out West to Colorado as a teenager. I went through at least 8 disposable Kodak cameras snapping pictures of all the amazing places we visited. Excellent photographs have always captured my attention and as I matured, a desire to create excellent photographs grew in my heart. I’ve come a long way in 10 years, now at the place where I consider photography a second profession. 

This summer I felt like God was speaking clearly that He was enabling me to pursue wedding photography as a business. He has used many resources over the years to teach me what excellent photography is and how to achieve it: books, good friends, college classes, amazing photographers sharing their experience on the Web. I was learning all this stuff for fun, and that remains the primary reason why I do this: it’s a lot of fun. However, a few months ago I felt like God showed me that He had grown my technical skill, my experience, and my creativity to the point that I was producing professional-quality photographs. Now, that’s not infallible, you may have a completely different opinion after looking at my images! But I do genuinely feel like I have grown a lot recently. And that is why I’m here now.

So, I realize that most people who end up reading this blog will be looking at this post in the archives, and I just hope that it can help give an idea of what this is all about. What I’m looking to do here is just share what I am currently doing in the photography world. There is a ton going on in my life and this blog will only focus on the photography part. I plan to share a few images from my events as they happen, gear reviews, things that I’ve learned, concepts that I’m thinking about, and any other images that I happen to make for fun.
